Todays' hike took me and my hiking buddy, Royce to the Art Smith Trail.  Located in Palm Desert (page 97) up Hwy 74 across from the Visitors Center.
The weather was great, and there were a few fellow hikers on the trail, but plenty of space between us so we never felt rushed or slowed down by the other hikers.
I can't believe I have lived in Palm Desert for over 30 years and I have never hiked this trail before.  It was a nice hike with just enough elevation climb to give us a good workout but not too much to wear us out.
It was listed as a 16 mile hike/8 hrs.  We hiked for 4 hrs (round trip) and stopped for a half hour lunch break.  Not really sure how many miles we travelled, maybe 8????  I need to get an app on my phone to keep my mileage for me, what I had today didn't work :(
Here's some fun pics from the day!

 My trusty hiking buddy, Royce!!

Christmas at one of the Oasis we passed on this hike.

Looking forward to another great hike next week!!
Today I start my quest to hike every week for 52 weeks.  A different hike every week, hikes listed in the book: 140 Great Hikes in and near Palm Springs, written by Philip Ferranti with Hank Koenig.
